My son called tonight, which doesn’t happen very often since I see him online most of the time.
So he called me and asked why I wasn’t online at MSN for.
I told him that our connections has been up and down lately, and that today we had one of BT’s engineers here trying to fix this…but that he broke it instead.
So Peter said okiday…and then he said: “I thought we could do web cam and voice chat, because I really wanted to see the reaction in your face when I told you that you will become a Granny next spring…”
Heh.
During a friction of a moment I had thoughts like “Oh God, it’s too early…” and “They’re not old enough to become parents…” and “But I’M not old enough to become a Granny…” :p Then I decided to remember that I was 18 myself when I got pregnant…Peters dad didn’t even have a job at the time…we had been together for only a few months…and at least Peters dads mom was 4 years younger than I am today.
So within a few seconds it became very good news.
Yes, Helene is 18 just like I was, but Peter do have a steady job and a good salary and they have been together for some time already. A lot longer than only a “few months”.
And these days I AM old enough to be a Granny.
Besides, I’m already going through menopause, so what the heck….
Which means that I will be a grandmother in Mars or April next year
Anyone got a cigar? hehehe
I made this pendant the other day just to have something to do, and today I put it up on ebay to see if anyone’s interested in buying
Chain is not included btw…but I recommend a long golden chain because of the size of this pendant.
We have been completely cut off from the Internet for the past week and it wasn’t until last night the connection came back again. This is the second time in a month now that this connection been down for a week and it’s getting annoying. Especially since the ISP want me to pay for a full month in any case.
I wrote them a rather spicy note last night and told them that I don’t expect to pay for a full month after all this trouble. We’ll see how it goes. They usually give you some lame excuse that they can’t change the billing when it’s too close to pay date…but that’s nothing but bull if you ask me.
Anywhoo….yesterday during the day we went out to hunt down some lambs. With the cameras that is And a safe place to do so has always been Chatsworth House. They have loads of sheep and at this time of year also loads of lambs. Or so we thought anyway.
By the time we got there the fields were completely empty. Not a sheep anywhere…which was kinda surprising. I’m not sure where they moved them, but since there’s a few acres to chose among I’m sure they tucked them away someplace else.
So instead we decided to go to Chatsworth Farmshop, which in theory should sell local products to half the price compared to the grocery stores. At least that’s the way it should be.
This Farmshop was however nothing like that.
More like a posh country side version of Mark & Spencer if anything.
Prices are over the top and we came out with some fresh sugar peas and a bottle of cider. That went down to almost £4, which was no fortune.
However, if you would want a kilo of “fresh” shrimps, you had to pay almost £20. Which is crazy since no matter the price around here they’re not fresh in any way. In Sweden you buy them for a fraction of that straight from the fishing boats. And that’s fresh :p
Anyways…when we came out from the shop there was a gathering in the field close by. Cows with their calves were sniffing on tourists, so we picked up the cameras and got some piccies.
Ok…so….here’s what I did the other day when my hands turned into a couple of useless limbs :p
I made a twin pair of brooches, and they are not really identical, but close to. The first one is above.
Then we got twin number two.
The base on both these brooches are one of the bigger parts of two pocket watches. Then there’s hands from all 4 watches, cogs from at least two watches and some gems that was playing fetch-me in my jewelery box to no good :p
I also made a pair of earrings, and what’s missing here is the loops. You kinda need those in order to use them, ya know So I need to buy some loops, which will go through the holes at the top. So they are Steampunk earrings tobe right now
And then we have another pendant….also tobe since the jump ring isn’t there yet. I will need to drill up the hole at the top a bit to get a jump ring through, but that’s a project for laters when fingers are less sore and I can get my hands on a good drill

We just had some Chinese food for dinner and I’m sooo full :p
Anyway.
Yesterday I put together some more jewelery since I had nothing better to do. I don’t have any piccies yet, but what was left of those pocket will be 2 brooches, a pair of earrings and a pendant. “Will be” means that I need to get some loops for the earrings and a couple of pins for the brooches. Then I will take some piccies of them
When I was done I had one nice big blister in my right hand after a screwdriver, and even if it’s gone today the skin is very stiff and red still. My fingertips feels about the same way so if I plan on continue doing this I think I will need to get some sort of gloves. There’s a special kind of tape you can buy for the sake of protecting the fingertips…that I know…but who needs that when there’s duct tape
Just kidding.
I kinda want to keep my skin :p
If my jewelery box keep getting filled with this kind of jewelery, I will open a store at Etsy and sell them over there. Ebay is a lot more expensive and too cluttered. Besides, ebay is charging you for pretty much everything these days.
So a little store at Etsy.com sounds a lot better.
And that’s it for now.
Hope your week is a good one
The wheat field just outside the gate here is growing nicely and it’s a nice subject to take photos of Especially when it’s sunny and a bit windy.
Robin came home from his mom last night looking as if someone punched him in the face. Both his eyes were bright red and terribly swollen. He mowed the lawn at his moms house and his hay fever didn’t approve to that. It was warm, dry and sunny all day yesterday…a nice summer day if you don’t have problems with allergies. For Robin it was a devastating combination with the lawn mowing, and at one point his airways was closing up as well. By the time he came home it settled down a bit.
His eyes are still running a bit today and he’s sneezing. It’s overcast out there, but no rain so far. And the landlord is mowing the lawn here today so that doesn’t help either.
Other than that it’s Monday and that’s about it really. I’m waiting on news about JD. I haven’t seen him in almost 2 weeks and hope is going down the drain more and more for each day. At the same time I guess that no news are good news. If something happened his mom or Patsy, his ex wife, would have been in touch…so as long as I don’t see them around I assume that he’s still alive and kicking, even if it might be at ICU.
So today I’m alone and unsupervised. It’s Sunday and it’s sunny outside my window. Which means that I should be outdoors doing something, but instead I’ve spent about 5 hours making Steampunk jewelery.
I’ve made an earring, a pendant and a pin today. The bits and pieces are from old pocket watches and it’s really fun to fiddle around with
The first piccie in this post is the earring. I made one since I thought that two would probably be a bit too much.
Then we have a pendant, made from similar parts and in similar materials. The materials btw are brass, silver and red gold. I’ve been digging deep in my jewelery box since I always have jewelery that I never use. Not sure why, but the jewelery that I do wear I’ve used for ages and everything else tend to create a lot of dust. So some of it was dismantled today
I also made a pin that I have no clue when to wear or why I made it. Might come in handy some time, but I doubt it :p Pins is something I buy for the sake of charity, wear it for a while and then I usually lose them for one reason or another.
That’s how I’ve spent most part of this Sunday.

This movie is built around the old legend about the Loch Ness monster, and in the end this story might be just as true as any of the others told about this lake in Scotland.
Angus MacMorrow is a young boy who is patiently waiting for his dad to come home from the war, and he is also very afraid of the water in the lake nearby their home. But he enjoy to spend time by the water, and one day while collecting shells he find a big egg that looks like nothing he seen before.
He brings it back to his dad’s workshop in a bucket and it shows out to be a magical egg that hides a small creature. Angus gives him the name Crusoe and a story full of secrets and adventures is being revealed into what we today know as the legend of the Loch Ness Monster.
So….is it any good?
Well, yes. If you are fascinated by these kind of myths and enjoy the special effects that a movie like this have. It’s a nice story for all ages and it’s also a bit sad of course. There’s simply no way around the fact that if you bring home a wild animal - real or as in this case, a mythical creature - at some point you have to return it to it’s natural environment again.
At the same time as Angus is trying to hide his new pet from his mom, a new handyman is moving into his dad’s workshop and soldiers are settling in inside and around their home to hunt submarines in the Loch. This makes it very difficult for Angus to keep Crusoe hidden, especially since he’s growing really fast.
However, he does get some unexpected help to save this little creature.
If you have kids at home - this is a must.
If you don’t have kids at home - watch it anyway. It’s just a very nice movie
There’s been a few days offline because of a shitty ISP. That’s why I’ve been so invisible.
BT’s computers went down completely just before the weekend (that’s the phone company) and shortly after that we lost our broadband. I still don’t know if the two were connected in any way. The phone’s been working, but there’s been no DSL on the line at all.
Anyway…I’m back
I think and hope.
On Tuesday we signed the contract for the terrace house and paid the bond.
Now we’re chasing another £410 that will pay for the first month rent before it’s all final and we’ve got the keys. I thought the bond and the first month rent was the same, but I was wrong. So all to all we have to come up with £800 before we are even allowed to touch the keys.
Nifty eh?
More waiting and more stress.
I haven’t had a epileptic seizure in almost 3 years, but the other morning it was a close call. And the only thing that could trigger that right now would be the stress that this whole thing is causing.
So I’m still trying to see things in a positive light, hope that we will be moving soon, but not hoping too much so I fall too hard in case all the pieces won’t fall in place.
Tricky one that.
I’ve finished the big painting with the pile of books that I wrote about the other day. And 4 other paintings.
Most things I’m doing right now are done with the move in mind. Strange how easy it is to live in a straw with only one view when you are looking forward to something….
And that’s about it for now.
It’s late and I’ve got a million emails to sort out and some other things to take care of that has fallen behind during the past few days.
